HIFU Body
Preparation Guide
a little preparation, better results
HIFU works with your body’s own collagen response, so the healthier and better prepared your skin and system are, the more you give it to work with. None of this is complicated, and a few simple habits in the days before make a real difference.

Build a Strong Foundation
Collagen production is the whole point of HIFU, and your body needs the right building blocks to do it well. In the two weeks before your session, lean into the basics that support skin renewal.
Aim for around 2 litres of water a day. Well hydrated tissue responds and recovers better, and supports the collagen process that follows.
Collagen is built from amino acids, so steady protein across the day gives your body exactly what it needs to rebuild.
Vitamin C is essential for collagen synthesis. Plenty of colourful vegetables and fruit will do the job nicely.
Use SPF on any exposed treatment area. Sun damaged skin responds less predictably to treatment.
What to pause
Give Your Skin a Clean Slate
Stop retinol and strong active products on the treatment area 5 to 7 days before, as these can sensitise the skin.
Avoid peels, microneedling or laser on the area in the 2 to 4 weeks beforehand so the skin is calm and settled.
No tanning or fake tan on the area. It changes how the skin behaves during treatment.
Avoid ibuprofen and similar anti inflammatories in the days before unless you need them medically. The mild, controlled inflammatory response is part of how HIFU works. Always follow your doctor’s advice on any prescribed medication.
On the day
Arriving Ready
Have a proper meal 1 to 2 hours before. A settled blood sugar level keeps you comfortable through a longer session.
Arrive with clean skin on the treatment area. No makeup, lotions, oils or sunscreen on the day.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that gives easy access to the area being treated.
Let us know if anything has changed in your health, medication or cycle since your consultation.
If you are perimenopausal or postmenopausal, declining oestrogen reduces how readily your skin produces collagen. This does not mean treatment will not work. It means your timeline may be a little longer, and your practitioner will set expectations with you. If you are on HRT this often works in your favour. Do mention where you are, so your plan can be tailored to you.
The fortnight before: hydrate well, steady protein, plenty of vitamin C, SPF on the area. 5 to 7 days before: pause retinol and strong actives. On the day: eat 1 to 2 hours before, clean skin with no products, loose clothing. That is all you need to do.
